A Chanel CC brooch from Fall-Winter 1988 · gold-plated metal, double C in relief, radiating striated background · the house logo reduced to the essentials, without compromise.
In 1983, Karl Lagerfeld took over as artistic director of Chanel and entrusted costume jewelry to Victoire de Castellane in 1984. Together, they redefined the house's jewelry: the pieces became more assertive, the double CC was presented as a motif in its own right rather than a simple signature. It was during this time — between 1984 and 1990 — that some of the most sought-after pieces of Chanel jewelry among collectors were produced. The season code dating system, introduced by de Castellane, now makes it possible to precisely identify each piece from this period.
This 3.5 cm diameter round brooch features a double CC in relief on a radiating striated background in gold-plated metal. Pin closure at the back. Chanel hallmark engraved on the back with serial number 1188 corresponding to the Fall-Winter 1988 collection, Made in France. Uniform gold plating, good general condition, no major defects. Delivered with RARR Vintage box and certificate of authenticity.
