There is a family of scarves that depict nothing but jewellery. No flowers, no hunting scenes: chains, pearls, medallions, drawn in trompe-l'œil and laid flat on silk as if on a jeweller's display. The idea is clever — tie the carré, and the necklace appears. This is a beautiful version: interwoven chains and rows of golden pearls structure the composition in chevrons, while oval medallions, stamped with the CD monogram, run in rows across the black background.
The design directly references the house's jewellery. Christian Dior produced highly sought-after necklaces made from a heavy gold chain carrying round discs engraved with the interlocking CD logo — exactly the vocabulary this carré adopts and multiplies. The deep black background, framed by a wide plain border, gives full prominence to the gold: a graphic and distinctly dressed-up contrast, the kind that lifts a dark outfit in a single gesture.
The silk is soft and lightweight — it ties without bulk, making it as easy to wear as a headband in the hair as a necktie around the neck or a belt at the waist.
