La Mère, Marie Michielssen’s debut ceramic tableware line, is a loving ode to (grand)mother figures and women everywhere. The collection feels subtly nostalgic while being innovative in many ways thanks to its vertical structure. Each shape is unique and hand-modelled. All pieces are finished with an off-white or warm dark brown glaze that appears almost black. As a third, contrasting shade, Marie opted for a bold Venetian red. The designer also deliberately selected these colours to enable a mix-and-match of white and dark brown, or red and dark brown.
