La Mère, Marie Michielssen's first ceramic tableware line, is a loving ode to maternal (and grandmaternal) figures and women in general. The dinnerware feels subtly nostalgic, yet innovative in many ways thanks to its vertical structure. Each form is unique and moulded by hand. All pieces are finished with a glaze in off-white or warm dark brown, almost black. As a third contrasting shade, Marie opted for a bold Venetian red. The designer also deliberately selected these colours to allow mix-and-match combinations of white and dark brown or red and dark brown.
